Nonfiction is a venture capital firm investing in startups built on fundamentals, not fiction. We invest in companies tackling real problems, whether in new markets or legacy industries. Our team has previously invested in startups including Coinbase, Etched, Fathom, Hadrius, and Kredete.
Generally, we write $250K–$1M checks in pre-seed and seed stage startups. We are flexible to lead or follow. While we are based in the DC area, we invest both in the US and abroad.

Mujtaba Wani
Mujtaba is a career private equity and venture capital investor. He started at BlackRock Private Equity Partners before joining GSV Ventures, where he led the firm’s first investments in India, MENA, and LatAm — including Abwaab, Classplus, and Toddle. As an angel, Mujtaba has backed startups such as Fathom, Hadrius and Kredete.
Mujtaba was born in Srinagar, Kashmir and grew up in Northern Virginia. He began investing by buying shares in Apple when he was in high school. He holds a B.A. from Yale College.

Idris Mokhtarzada
Idris is an entrepreneur and technologist. He co-founded Truebill (acquired by Rocket for $1.3B), which raised $85M+ from Accel, Bessemer, and Y Combinator. He also co-founded Webs (acquired by Vistaprint for $118M) when he was still in high school. Since 2012, Idris has made 30+ angel investments, including a seed investment in Coinbase.
Idris grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland. In 2021, his family established the Mokhtarzada Hatchery to support entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland, where he studied Computer Science.

Subhan Jahromi
Subhan is an entrepreneur and investor who has been building since age 13. He is co-CEO of Edgevana, a leader in edge and AI infrastructure deployment. He also co-founded Char’d Smash Burgers, a seed-oil-free restaurant concept. Subhan has made 20+ angel investments, including in Etched.
Subhan specializes in helping founders land their first customers, investors, and distribution partners. Born and raised in Wales, he has spent the last decade in Northern Virginia.
